Thread Bare[ing] 2018-19
This body of work was a personal exploration of the emotional impact of bearing witness to my mother’s dementia over many years, and her subsequent death in July 2019.
It uncovers, acknowledges, confronts and depicts four key emotions: guilt, frustration, sorrow and fear. In exposing these private reactions, I hoped to highlight and generate a discussion about the often unseen consequences of this condition.
A reflective essay about this exhibition can be found here.
